While the shipment sits in storage-in-transit it stays under the carrier's liability, and before it converts to permanent storage the carrier must tell you in writing that its liability is ending (49 CFR 375.609).
How is this priced?
Residential storage is billed per 8 ft × 10 ft climate-controlled vault per month, month to month, with no minimum or maximum commitment. What you pay depends on how many vaults your household fills and how long you keep them. Move-in and move-out labor is quoted separately against the size of the move.
