Read the full breakdownStorage-in-Transit (SIT) is temporary storage that stays part of an interstate (state-to-state) move under the FMCSA's household goods rules, 49 CFR 375.609. It covers the gap between the day your shipment leaves the old house and the day the new one can take it.
While your shipment is in SIT, the carrier stays liable for it under the valuation you chose for the move. Before SIT converts to permanent storage, the carrier has to tell you in writing that its liability is ending, and from then on the warehouse's own rules and charges apply. On interstate moves, the first 30 days of SIT are often included in the estimate.
California intrastate moves follow the state's Maximum Rate Tariff 4, and Item 160 caps SIT at 90 days from the day your shipment is unloaded into storage. After that, the warehouse becomes the destination, its rules and charges apply, and delivery to your new home counts as a separate shipment. That's where the 90-day figure you may have heard comes from; the federal rule has no 90-day limit.

What you pay depends on how many vaults you need and how long you keep them, so we quote against your actual inventory rather than a flat rate. As long as you need. Some customers store a few boxes through a renovation; others store a whole household through a multi-year placement abroad. If your storage starts as storage-in-transit on a move, it converts to permanent storage when the SIT period ends, and from then on the warehouse's rules apply.

Yes. We can retrieve specific items from your storage on request. There's typically a small handling fee, and we recommend giving us a few days' notice so we can pull the right vault without disrupting other shipments. For full delivery, we coordinate the date with you.

Our crew comes to your home, wraps and protects every piece of furniture, and loads it onto our truck, the same process as any SVM move. The truck returns to our warehouse, where our crew unloads your belongings directly into an enclosed Storage Vault assigned only to you, never mixed with anyone else's. Once the vault is full, we close it, security-seal it, and label it, and it stays sealed in our warehouse until you call for it.
That works. We store a single piece of furniture, a few boxes, or a full household. Billing is per 8×10 vault, and your belongings never share a vault with another customer's. We'll tell you how many vaults you need when we quote it.
