The drive might be twenty minutes. The furniture does not know that. Every piece still has to come down the stairs, survive the truck, and land in the right room, which is why we run a local move with the same discipline as a cross-country one.
Silicon Valley Moving & Storage has moved Bay Area households since 1990. The crews are ours and so are the trucks, and the equipment rolls out of our own warehouse on Barnard Ave every morning.

The crew lead walks every room with you, confirms the inventory, and hears what you care about most before anyone lifts anything.

Floor runners over the hardwood, padding on door jambs and banisters. The house gets dressed before the furniture moves.

Quilted pads around every furniture piece, shrink wrap over upholstery. Beds and shelving come apart, and the tools live on the truck.

Heavy pieces ride low, tiers are built tight, and nothing leans on anything that can scratch. A good load is why nothing shifts on the freeway.

The crew secures the truck and heads to the new address while you take a last look and lock up.

Boxes land in the rooms they are labeled for. Furniture goes where you point, and you are allowed to change your mind about the couch.

Beds go back together first so the night is settled, then shelving and tables. Pads and wrap leave with the crew.

Coverage by weight surprises people. How valuation actually works is worth two minutes before any move, with us or with anyone else.
One ask from our side: mention the garage, the attic, and the storage unit when we scope the job. An estimate is only as good as the inventory behind it, and there should be no surprise fees at the end of the day.

Property managers want a certificate of insurance on file and an elevator reserved before a single box moves. Send us the building's requirements and we handle that paperwork with them.
Permit zones, street cleaning, and nowhere obvious to put a truck. We plan where it stands before move day, not while it circles the block.
Los Gatos, Saratoga, and Almaden driveways can be steep, narrow, and a long carry from the front door. We walk the approach during the estimate and staff the carry to match.
Willow Glen bungalows and Rose Garden craftsmans have narrow doorways, plaster corners, and porches built before couches were this big. Our warehouse shares a zip code with these streets.

Move-out date forced and the new place isn't ready? We pack into 8×10 climate-controlled vaults, store them at our San Jose warehouse month to month, and deliver when you're ready. Days, weeks, or months, your call.

Local moves bill by the hour, and the rate covers the crew, the truck, fuel, equipment, and basic coverage. What you pay depends on how much is moving and how hard it is to get from your door to the truck. We put crew size and estimated hours in writing after seeing your inventory, so the number you plan around is specific to your move, not a guess from a chart.
A two-bedroom apartment with a three-person crew typically runs 4 to 6 hours from walkthrough to sign-off. The big drivers in either direction: how much is boxed before we arrive, stairs and elevators, and the carry distance at both ends.
One to two weeks ahead is comfortable, more during the summer months when calendars fill fastest. That said, call for close dates. Depending on crew availability we often take last-minute and even same-day moves.
Yes, constantly. We coordinate elevator reservations and loading dock windows with property managers and provide the certificate of insurance buildings require. Walk-ups and narrow stairwells are ordinary work for our crews.
Yes. Pianos, safes, and single oversized pieces are their own kind of job, with a short minimum that keeps small moves practical. The minimum is stated in your estimate before you book.
