Long-term storage is different from short-term moving storage because the duration multiplies every flaw in the facility. What's the longest I can store?
There's no maximum. Your shipment stays in its sealed vault in our climate-controlled warehouse.
How is this different from a self-storage unit?
There are three big differences: climate, handling, and custody. A self-storage unit is a metal box that bakes in summer; our warehouse is climate-controlled year-round, and that counts for more the longer you store. We pack, load, store, retrieve, and deliver, so you don't drive a truck or lift anything. And your belongings go into enclosed 8×10 vaults that we seal at intake and keep sealed until you call for them.
Can I retrieve specific items mid-storage?
Yes. We can pull a single vault or specific items on request. There's a small handling fee and we ask for a few days' notice so we can locate the right vault without disrupting other shipments.
How are my things covered in long-term storage?
Long-term storage is warehouse storage, and warehouse storage liability is legally separate from the valuation that covers your goods while they're being moved. We'll walk you through the warehouse terms at booking. For art, collections, and antiques, ask your insurer about a separate policy on those items, often called an inland marine policy.
Where do you deliver to when I'm ready?
Anywhere in the United States. Locally, our own crews and trucks deliver across the Bay Area and California. Out-of-state deliveries run under USDOT 70719 as a Bekins Van Lines agent: we coordinate the long-haul transport and a Bekins agent on the destination end.
How much does long-term storage cost?
We bill per 8×10 climate-controlled vault per month, month to month. What you pay depends on how many vaults your household fills and how long you keep them, so we quote against your actual inventory rather than a flat rate. That's normal. Customers extend, shorten, change destinations, redirect to a different state, or bring everything home early. We bill month to month specifically because life doesn't run on a schedule. Email or call us when plans shift. We'll adjust.
