In our customers' words.
“This is a professional, friendly operation from the first call to schedule to the last item being delivered and placed in the new residence. I received a number of confirmations and messages as the dates approached. They even texted on the move day to confirm they were on the way. The crew was friendly and well-informed about my old and new places from my previous conversations with the office staff. I pre-boxed the normal items like dishes, clothes, and clothes. They wrapped everything else from wall hangings, to the TVs, to the furniture items. The estimate didn’t just match the final bill, it actually turned out to be a bit less than estimated. I’d use them again for my next move and recommend them to friends.”

“I only wish I could award 10 stars. The service was excellent from beginning to end. Quick processing of initial quote, on the day of the move the Movers were professional, polite, hard working and most of all they listened. I have a couple pieces of furniture that are delicate and they took great care not only with those pieces but everything they moved. I will use them again and refer them to all my friends and family. Thank you Silicon Valley Moving & Storage !!”

“Silicon Valley Moving was the best choice for our move. From the quote to final delivery, the communication and professionalism were second to none! We were thoroughly pleased with the entire process. The speed in which the packing was done and the loading and unloading of the truck were completed in record time. The guys on the crews were a joy to work with. Friendly and knowledgeable and very hard workers. Since our move was done in the heat of San Jose and the gold country, there was never a complaint about the temperature. Their hard work was appreciated and did not go unnoticed. We would highly recommend Silicon Valley Moving. You get what you pay for, and you will get the best!”

What's the difference between a local move and a long-distance move?
Local moves within the Bay Area are billed by the hour, so you pay for the crew and truck for the time the move takes. Long-distance and interstate moves are priced by shipment weight and mileage, and interstate moves are handled through our Bekins Van Lines agency. If you are crossing California or leaving the state and your move-in date does not line up with your move-out date, ask us about Storage-in-Transit.
Do I need professional packing, or can I pack myself?
Either works. Many customers pack their own boxes and have us handle the furniture, disassembly, and transport, while others book full packing so the entire home is boxed, padded, and labeled by our crew. Fragile and high-value items like art, glass, and electronics are where professional packing and custom crating pay off most. We walk your home and recommend the right level during your free estimate.
How does moving coverage work?
It depends on where the move ends. Within California, basic coverage of 60 cents per pound per article comes included in the rate, and you can choose Actual Cash Value or Full Value Protection for a charge stated on your Agreement for Moving Services. On an interstate move, federal rules make Full Value Protection the mover's default obligation, and the lower released rate applies only if you waive it in writing. Our Valuation Protection page covers both, with the regulation behind each rule.
How far in advance should I book my move?
For a local move, one to two weeks of lead time is usually enough. For long-distance and interstate moves, and for any move during the busy May through September season or at month-end, book four to eight weeks out so you get your preferred date. We always try to accommodate short-notice moves when our schedule allows.
Are you licensed and insured?
Yes. Silicon Valley Moving & Storage has operated in San Jose since 1990. Our USDOT number is 1962166 and our California license is CAL T 188960, and interstate moves run under USDOT 70719 as an agent for Bekins Van Lines. You can look up the USDOT numbers at safer.fmcsa.dot.gov. Every crew member is a direct SVM employee, so we never broker your move to an outside contractor.
